ALL FOR NOTHING

Some consider me a born romantic, and an open book

Crazy cautious and a tad pedantic, with a closer look

She was silly young, and sociopathic, really just me type

Seems her nesting was just holographic, nothing more than hype

Then she unloaded the bomb, so it was All For Nothing

I's even nice to her mom, and it was All For Nothing

Tried so long to keep my roots from growing, poisoning my well

So many ways to keep your seeds from sowing, damn it all to hell

Four whole decades keeping rabbits healthy, such unfruitful years

Thinking that's the way a man stays wealthy, rich with childish fears

So I was only afraid and it was All For Nothing

Self hypothetically spayed and it was All For Nothing,

All For Nothing

All For Nothing, All For Nothing, All For Nothing

Now I'm in control and tides are turning, every day is new

Not to suggest that I'm no longer learning, but now I've got a clue

Every other day's an uphill climb, and life is moving fast

But before I start I'll take this time, to laundry list the past

The self obsession and pride, it was All For Nothing

That old compulsion to hide, it was All For Nothing

The silly Internet fights, they were All For Nothing

The pressing need to be right, it was All For Nothing

The university years, they were All For Nothing

The inexplicable fears...

Valentine's Day

Never cared too much for Cupid's holiday

It never meant a lot to me

Roadside flowers, dinner, then the check to pay

Corny things done lovingly

But a new house, gives a brand new start

Sends arrows straight through my heart

Valentine's Day in our brand new home

Paying for the heat and the telephone

Everything's ours,

from the roof to the hardwood floors

Going to bed, in a room, upstairs

Thanking God, for the life we share

Valentine's Day has never been like this before.

I remember dreaming of a life like this

I'm the same as any man

Garage to put my car in and a bride to kiss

talk about the perfect plan

a lover, with brains and looks,

a house of bamboo and books

Valentines Day in our brand new home,

I'm talkin' bout romance like I've never known

When you feel the love,

just to walk through your own front door

Remembering life in the days gone by

Things have changed so much it's no wonder why

Valentine's Day, has never been like this before.

Going to bed, in a room, upstairs

Thanking God, for the life we share

Valentine's Day has never been like this before.

People Who Believe

Have I ever run away? Have I ever thrown myself into the fire?

Quantity and quality, are they so opposed or do they walk the wire?

It's you, I look to

And People Who Believe, people with a good foundation,

People Who can laugh despite the tears

People Who Believe, not because somebody told them,

just because their faith dispels all the fears

Surround me with People Who Believe

Don't confuse religion with belief

Temples filled with vacant minds don't get me off

Well laid plans can swindle me

While sitting on the sofa keeps my body soft

It's me, I truly need

People Who Believe, people with a good foundation,

People Who can laugh despite the tears

People Who Believe, not because somebody told them,

just because their faith dispels all the fears

Surround me with People Who Believe

I don't want to know the truth, the truth can set me free

Just chain me up in comfort and surround me, with People Who Believe

When the darkest hour is the brightest spark

Keep your senses open and it passes by

Balance is essential when you're on your mark

And when you're not, let others take you for a ride

Have fun, we are one, with

People Who Believe, people with a good foundation,

People Who can laugh despite the tears

People Who Believe, not because somebody told them,

just because their faith dispels all the fears

People Who Believe

People Who Believe

People Who Believe

Atlantic Coastal Blues

I  don't wanna sell out, and play Hollywood

I don't wanna die with the most toys

Though maybe I should

Stand in the main stream

Let it wash all my dues away

I was born on the East Coast, and it's here that I live

Those cold North East Winters, will take all you can give

Life's as real as the puddles

That are drowning my socks and shoes

Atlantic Coastal Blues

Go West young woman, that's the new battle cry

For the fairer of sexes, trying to get high

Up the ladder of fortune, the babe's got to move or lose

It's just part of the cycle, part of being a man

It's reverse automation, got to do it by hand

But they left out directions

All they give you is worn out clues

Atlantic Coastal Blues

Now I know it's hard, on all concerned

But anyway you slice it, you know I, I got burned

So I trudge through the Winter, of my hearts discontent

And I wait for that ship to come in and pay

All of my rent

But the sea's not Pacific,

So the trip ain't no pleasure cruise

But life shouldn't be easy, and I'm still in my prime

Don't forget what your grandmomma told you

Good things take time

Wild the whole world turns leftward

I'm left praising my right to choose

Legal To Be Tender

Don't be foolish, it's better than you think

Don't be sad if love goes cold before you blink

When you know that you're in trouble

Let the tears roll down your

pouting face smack dab on the double it's

Legal To Be Tender

So lay your money down

Be sensitive and love one another it's hip

It's goin' 'round and 'round and 'round

I'm a new man, politically correct

I'm that peace child that you never would suspect

Although looks can be deceiving

In my tie dyed jeans it's me they trust

You best be believin' it's

Legal To Be Tender, it's mandatory now

Although it's tough to learn to be right

The Left can show you how

It's Legal To Be Tender

But it oughta be against the law

Don't be foolish, it's better than you think

Don't be sad if love goes cold before you blink

When you know that you're in trouble

Let the tears roll down your

Pouting face smack dab on the double it's

Legal To Be Tender

So lay your money down

Be sensitive and love one another it's hip

It's goin' 'round

It's Legal To Be Tender and it's mandatory now

Although it's tough to learn to be right

The Left can show you how

I said it's Legal, You know it's Legal

I said it's Legal

But it oughta be against the law.

In Europe

In Europe, she touches down

Takes a breath of the morning air

While her fingers run through her hair

Feel her smiling from miles away

As she's ready to start, her day

In Europe, her dream begins

So in love with the sights and sounds

That her feet never touch the ground

Searching deep in her soul to find

Images of the boy, who waits behind

So I try, to get through my day

But I really don't see how

People talk to me I don't hear a word that they say

'Cause she's all, I want, right now

In Europe, she's fast asleep

Starry nights in a foreign land

City lights in her loving hand

All the wealth for her eyes to see

Will she still remember me?

In Europe, In Europe, In Europe.

I Can Get Along

Once upon a time I lived with hopes and dreams

But that was long before I saw the light, found the way

Now I know that things aint always like they seem

And that's what keeps me working through the night, to the day

Life is hard enough with the added twist

You're the only thing in life I can't resist

Though I know we all need help along the way

I'm aware that help is never free

It may appear to be a fool that I portray

But while you laugh it up, you're helping me

And I'll thank them so much when they aid my cause

Mixed appearances just add to the applause

But I Can Get Along without my fellow man

It'd be rough, but I'd get through

I Can Get Along without my fellow man

But I can't live without you.

 Yes it's true a loner's life's what I depict

But you are the one with whom my words conflict

And I Can Get Along without my fellow man

It'd be rough but I'd get through

I Can Get Along without my fellow man

But I can't live without you

I could fall back on a steady job

If my brain could stand the pace

But I'd rather stay a petty slob

Who falls forward on his face

Once upon a time I lived with hopes and dreams

But that was long before I saw the light, found the way

Now I know that things aint always like they seem

And that's what keeps me working through the night, to the day

Life is hard enough with the added twist

You are the only thing in life I can't resist yeah

And I Can Get Along without my fellow man

It'd be rough but I'd get through

I Can Get Along without my fellow man

But I can't live without you

I Can Get Along without my fellow man

It'd be rough but I'd get through

I Can Get Along without my fellow man

But I can't live without you

Murphy's Law

There is only one in every life

Who's able to turn things around

I knew you were the one

And someone once said if it can go wrong, it will go wrong

So now I know the way that things are done

So that's what the wise man saw

I know how it's got to end

It's Murphy's Law

And you're Murphy's best friend

I was confident of who I was and where I was

Always thinking "I'm above the law"

But when I turned around my hands were up my head was down

And Mr. Murphy beat me to the draw

So that's what the wise man saw

I know how it's got to end

It's Murphy's Law

And you're Murphy's best friend

He could have tapped me on the shoulder

And told me what to say

He could have waited 'til I'm older

Instead I learned Today

That you're Murphy's best friend

Now I'm all alone with memories of everything

But most of all I've learned to play the game

I won't get locked outside the door

That I can hide behind forevermore

You prob'ly feel the same

I've seen what the wise man saw

I know how it's got to end

It's Murphy's Law,

And I'm Murphy's best friend

Murphy's best friend

He's my best friend

Murphy's best friend

Neptune

Running from the mailbox

Tripping on the neighbors dog

At the kitchen table

Thumbing through a Sears catalog

Searching for your heart's delight

Made with vinyl sided masonite

Thrills your soul (Neptune)

Because Neptune makes guitars that rock

Neptune makes guitars that rock and roll

Daydream in the classroom

Waiting for the bell to ring

Scratching in a notebook

Phrases that you'll wanna sing

Jam in an abandoned shed

Tubes are burning throat is red

Your fingers cold

Because Neptune makes guitars that rock

Neptune makes guitars that rock and roll

(Neptune)

Staring in the mirror

Waiting just to hear you're on

Opening for The Kingsmen

Playing thirty minutes then you're gone

You're always on the second tier

But happy to be anywhere

You're kinda old (Neptune)

Because Neptune makes guitars that rock

Neptune makes guitars that rock

Neptune makes guitars that rock

Neptune makes guitars that rock and roll (Neptune)

That rock and roll (Neptune)

That rock and roll (Neptune)

That rock and roll (Neptune)

Monkey See Monkey Do

Monkey See Monkey Do

Monkey See Monkey Do

Standing by the lake, with a cigarette in your hand

Heaven knows when it blows that it shows while your toes

Are diggin' in the sand

And you don't need nobody tellin' you

'Bout another brand

She's a friendly girl, every night's a brand new him

He winks 'til he blinks then she

Shrinks while he drinks and she thinks

That his name is Jim

And no one can be as friendly as she

When the lights are dim

Monkey See Monkey Do

Everybody feelin' fine

Monkey See Monkey Do

Everybody stay in line

Educated man, got a degree in cocktail rhyme

Got an A in buffet tete-a-tete he would say Perrier

With a twist of lime

He's arrogant pretentious fits right in

But he's waistin' time

Monkey See Monkey Do

Everybody feelin' fine

Monkey See Monkey Do

Everybody stay in line

And as time goes on, they go walking single file

Over land hand in hand ain't it grand

On demand kinda bland

But they wear a smile

Their lives are exactly the way they planned

But they're in denial

Monkey See Monkey Do

Everybody feelin' fine

Monkey See Monkey Do

Everybody stay in line Ohh

Monkey See Monkey Do

Everybody feelin' fine

Monkey See Monkey Do

Everybody stay in line

Monkey See Monkey Do

Monkey See Monkey Do

Monkey See Monkey Do

Monkey See Monkey Do (oo oo oo oo)
